I was born in Melbourne to a family that left Soviet Ukraine as refugees in everything but name. To me singing feels like a way of crossing through time, linking me to a family heritage on the other side of the world, and a musical heritage that spans the globe. The songs I sing – from across four centuries and in over a dozen languages – feel like capturing a moment in time and catapulting it into the present.

I’m proud of premiering (in Australia) contemporary classical music by female composers from Iran, Ukraine and Czechia, and performing at the Sydney Opera House and with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
